      @@jessicaedpatule4042 I can see this point of view for sure. Using Dermalogica hasn’t always been good for business, but there are some products I genuinely have no replacement for. Ultimately recommending the best thing for clients has led to the best results and client loyalty.

    I’ve known I am olive for a long time but still I can’t tell whether cool or warm olive, it’s so hard for me that all I do is just try different colors, see what I like and what gives me compliments from other people and remember them. I have now my fav nail polishes, fave tops (clothes) & fav blushes, however I am still afraid of changing my hair color and haven’t found a favorite lipstick color yet 🙃

    I am fair cool olive, with black-brown eyes and jet black hair that shows up dark brown under light 😅 I burn but I slightly ever tan. I tanned but that was like after 5 years of sun exposure. When I tanned, I had a golden hue but then deep brown. It was sooo weird!!!! Now that I figured my mom was a Light Medium Olive, and so was my grandma! Didn't know olives could be super pale!

    Kalimera gorgeous neighbor! (I'm Turkish hehe) 🙋‍♀I've recently been on a mission to figure out this "am I olive or neutral?" adventure, and been checking out videos on this topic. Yours made it clear THE MOST for me! thank you so much for this very well informed video 💕 I struggled with the olive concept for the longest time because I'm a very pale color (but will tan in a few hours walking outside) but pale color shades in foundations look a bit more pink on me and if the undertone is too yellow then that also shows (tho seems to fit a bit better, but still not quite there, and unlike many people grayish BB creams seem to disappear on me 😸) you mentioning the eye color details helped tremendously! Also your nails are to die for! 💜

    I had an “ a-ha” moment. Makeup turns orange on me. I bet I have an olive undertone. It’s hard to find makeup for us that doesn’t look orange. I need to see if a blue based red lipstick 💄 will look better on me. Please keep giving us olive based content. New subscriber here. 😘

    Can I use the pre cleanse, a cleanser, the daily exfoliant, toner, hyaluronic acid serum, Niacinamide, eye cream and moisturizer as a daily routine or would that be too harsh?

    • @Sophie_theesthetician
      @Sophie_theesthetician Місяць тому

      Hi! Which niacinamide are you referring to? Is it the professional use ionactive? If so it’s 100% not for daily home use. And please don’t purchase the professional products from 3rd party sellers because they might not be authentic. In theory the rest of that routine is not too harsh but I would need to evaluate your skin to know if it’s right for you!

      @Sophie_theesthetician Місяць тому

      Interesting! We aren’t going to all perfectly fit into categories- so you could very well be clear and have gray eyes. If your eyes have a bright appearance, that could fit the clear theory though.

    Yes, yes, yes! To basically all of these (except that I have blue green eyes). I can't believe it took me well into adulthood to finally figure out that I have fair olive skin. I always used to think that I had warm / yellow undertones. But yellow and orange are the literal worst colors for me to wear. Gold jewelry kind of washes me out. Nude lipstick looks awful on me. It all makes sense now 😅

    This makes perfect sense as to why I haven't been able to find my undertone, color season, etc. I first realized it when I went to sephora and the lady working there found a perfect shade match for me. It looked great on my face, but by itself, it appeared almost yellowish. "Neutral" foundations look to orange on me, and I can somehow pull off both warm and cool blush looks. Finally, when I dyed my hair black (natural is medium brown), I got so many compliments. I wanna change it up for summer and try my natural hair again, but the black just looks too good and I wanna hang on to it 😭 And yes also, my eyes are green/hazel and I can wear gold/champagne sparkly eyeshadow without it looking like too much. My silver eyeshadow looks are some of my favorite, which always surprised me as I thought I was more warm toned....looks like I need to buy a silver metallic palette.

    You just described everything. Wow. Yellow-toned skin with blue veins? Yep. Nude lipstick? Nightmare. Foundation? Never found one that works for me. Shimmer? Disappears. Tan with odd undertones? Yep. Green tones in my eyes? Yep. (also, Seasonal Color Analysis? Good. Freaking. Luck.) I'm Italian, Irish, and English. I was born with golden red-blonde hair that washed me out like crazy (I looked like an actual translucent ghost). People act like I'm nuts when I tell them that my natural hair color looked/looks terrible on me. After all this time, I recently figured out that I might be cool-neutral olive, but I was doubting myself. Thank you for this.

    I tan red/ purple but also patchy brown on my arms only - peels off after a week. Red looks horrible on me. I look best in green and blues but especially light greens/ grey . I have ezcema so its a bit difficult to ascertain tone as naturally ezcema will go red. I think I'm on the edge of being an olive . had my skin tone tested several times but they have never told me I was olive even though I asked. my veins are a mixture of dark blue and green

    You mentioned in the video that you were going to link a photo of someone named Jackie to see how the sunscreen sits on a different shade of skin, but you forgot to add it. One of my concerns with all of the sunscreens in the US is that it is well known that they do not protect adequately against UVA rays, the ones known to age the skin. I love Dermalogica products, and before going on Trentinoin, used their moisturizer with Chemical SPF 50 but I’ve been warned against using that now. Many people are ordering Japanese, Korean and European skin care to get that extra UVA protection. Also, my understanding from extensive research is that the consistency of Japanese in Korean son care is much more luxurious in how it goes on, as well as being more advanced in the amount of protection because the US is so behind in approving the necessary ingredients for SPF (at least against UVA rays which of the ones I am primarily concerned about.).

    That charity is controversial. In 2024, we now know that Patrice Cullors resigned in disgrace because she used donations illegally to buy a mansion for her minions to live in. Moreover, she organized her group's trip to meet with Palestine leaders during the pandemic to plan for the riots and anti-semitic violence on college campuses we see today. If you want to give to that cause anyway, fine. But shilling for them on UA-cam makes you look bad.

    Years ago a consultant at Ulta told me I had olive based skin. I thought she was nuts. I had never heard that before. I am very light and pale and thought olive skin as very Mediterranean. I knew certain colors looked best on me but I thought it was because I was cool toned. I just recently learned about olive and have found a great foundation and other things that have changed my whole appearance. It has taken away the shallowness and washed out look. I am so happy for this new information!
